Projection Then and Now

When Paragon Multimedia first started up ten years ago, projection was where it all began; with the giant CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) projectors consuming work spaces without making up for it in quality. Since then things have advanced significantly, with projectors so small they can fit in your pocket, yet with the ability to still stretch across a large screen.

With the elevation of brightness levels, extension of lifespan and higher resolutions, it’s no wonder that projection still competes with flat panels when it comes to large displays, especially when they can be enhanced by wireless capabilities and interactivity as well.

DLP VS LCD Projectors

Both DLP (Digital Light Processor) and LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) fly off the shelves currently but what is the real difference?

DLP Projection

  • Image is created by microscopically small mirrors
  • Mirrors are laid out in a matrix on a semiconductor chip
  • Each Mirror represents one or more pixels in the projected image

LCD Projection

  • Employ a three-panel LCD system referred to as 3LCD
  • Produce bright, naturally coloured images
  • Capable of detailed shadow reproduction, which is ideal for business and home theatre applications
