BETT 2014 Product Picks – Interactive Dell S520
This product was picked by our project manager Grant Allen, Paragon’s managing director.
Dell’s latest interactive projector may not be available in Europe as of yet but it certainly made an impression over the period of BETT. Although the interactive technology is purely through the projector, the product comes with an 87-inch whiteboard for real time learning or business operation and the chance to annotate over with a standard pen as well as using the stylus. Technically, the S520 could be projected onto a surface but the addition of the whiteboard guarantees smooth calibration, so that you can take full advantage of real-time learning or business collaboration. With the a ten-point touch capability, this projector is one of only a few that can offer this many touch points and with WiDi (Wireless Display) as well as WiFi connectivity, you can save money and hassle by avoiding hard-wiring network and video cables.
Unlike many other interactive solutions available for presenting and learning, the Dell S520 works alongside Windows 8, meaning no additional software is required, just the numerous Windows’ apps available. The ultra-short throw and HD projection allows for room-size flexibility and creates a bright-consistent display that makes it ideal for classrooms, conference rooms and small offices. A PC is not even needed, as you can just plug in your USB directly to the projector and present with ease and with two built in speakers; this solution is bound to be popular when launched in the UK.
The full solution includes:
- Interactive projector
- Remote control
- Custom 87-inch dry-erase whiteboard
- Wall mount
- Laser curtain
- Two styluses
