Brand Spotlight: Mirrus
The ideas of virtual changing rooms in retail have been ongoing for several years now but today’s NEC Showcase saw a couple of technologies that can create such an environment. One of these, which we hadn’t personally heard of before was by high-tech company Mirrus, who have bred an interactive mirror that displays advertising when no one is looking at their reflection.
Using a combination of video displays, motion sensors and back-end content management, Mirrus is perfect for analysing and interacting with customers. One area where the mirrors have found their prime is in public restrooms but this is likely to evolve into retails shopping environments, like a changing room. The mirror is able to track how many consumers view it, how long they are there for and can specify the gender and which ad they were watching. There are plenty of additional potentials that could create a more specific use for each store, whether it’s discounts on a freezer door or accessories to match the dress you’re trying on. Either way, we hope this will be more of a reality soon. Until then, here’s a goofy video displaying the Mirrus in action.
