Flexible OLED bends the future for mobile phones
Although we are not fortunate enough to fly over to the current CES 2013 show in Las Vegas, we at Paragon have been keeping our eye on the latest technology that you may have missed out on too. Since our latest blog explaining what OLED is, Samsung have taken this technology one step further, by unveiling their latest prototype of flexible OLED. Being christened ‘Youm’, this screen can be bent into most shapes without breaking and slims down further from standard OLED due to a use of thin plastic rather than protective glass. Despite its smaller size, “Youm” still offers the same great features Samsung’s larger OLED screens offer, including very high resolution images and a speedy reaction time, which will make for a great mobile gaming experience.
Although this product is likely to take the smartphone world by storm, there is bound to be future applications discovered and although there will be quite some wait until it’s on the shop floors, here is a video to get you excited for what can be achieved for now.
