Projection mapping helps create Glastonbury spectacle
If you were lucky enough to go to Glastonbury last weekend you may have witnessed the giant 10 ft, mechanical spider that was part of the Arcadia Spectacular at the festival. However you may have been too drunk to realise quite how much AV went on behind the experience, which was worked on by design company Immersive and AV company Video Illusions.
Six 20,000 lumen Panasonic HD projectors were mapped to coordinate with a soundtrack from the likes of Fatboy Slim and Andy C and also included plenty of pyrotechnics and mechanical movements from the huge arachnid. The DLP projectors beamed geometrically mapped images from three areas in the spider’s legs making a real spectacle.
Check out the video here to get in the festival summer spirit. We do plenty of work with projection, so if you have any projects that you need support on, please feel free to contact us.
