Technology Exposed top picks : LG Hecto TV
One of the products that was hard to miss at this year’s Midwich expo, mostly because of the sheer size of it, was the LG Hecto Laser TV. At 100 inches, this large display works alongside a laser projector placed only 22 inches away, so shadowing is not an issue. Through mirror technology, the image is displayed despite the very short angle and distance of the projection. The image quality is sharp in most lighting conditions and with a 1080p resolution; the lack of 3D is not much of an issue.
Due to its unique design, the projector and screen cannot be swapped for another screen and although a bizarre reflection appears on your ceiling, this is something LG plan to correct. A special “eye protection” mode if someone gets to close disables the image to reduce the risk of light directly entering the eye, making it suitable for a residential and commercial environment. Featuring a SMART TV suite, onboard speakers and LG’s new Magic Motion remote (including voice recognition and gesture), this could be the next step in large format displays.
